Who We Are
Officially founded in 1995 under the leadership of Anita Stewart and a passionate group of industry leaders, Cuisine Canada celebrates Canada’s unfolding culinary traditions. It is a national association, which is broken down into five regions (British Columbia, Prairies, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic). Within the regions are smaller culinary circles, which offer grassroots programming and networking.
The national Board of Directors is composed of ten Regional Directors (two from each region) plus the Chair of Northern Bounty and Past Chair of Cuisine Canada.
Cuisine Canada is the first ever-national alliance of Canadian culinary professionals who share a common desire to encourage the development, use, and recognition of fine Canadian food and wine. Cuisine Canada is about culinary awareness and national pride. Cuisine Canada is about opportunity.
-To promote our unique Canadian food history and the multicultural and regional diversity of Canadian cuisine, leading to increased knowledge and demand;
-To foster communications and interaction among members;
-To develop a strong, effective, and self-sustaining organization;
-To encourage the use of quality Canadian products within Canada and internationally, to encourage their research and development;
-To give young members of Canada’s culinary community an opportunity to enhance their educational/work-related pursuits in the culinary field.
Cuisine Canada members are Canada’s leading food professionals. They are the trendsetters, innovators and leaders of our Canadian food culture. Our membership includes food editors from magazines such as Canadian Living, Chatelaine, Elm Street magazine and newspapers like the Montreal Gazette and Vancouver Sun; food writers, cookbook authors, executive chefs; commodity associations, home economists, food processors, caterers, publishers, academics and government.
